So I got a message on StockTwits from, to be frank, someone I’d never heard of before.
His name is Dave.
No, I’m going to do the Fight Club thing. “His name was Dave. His name was Dave….”. If you miss the reference, it’s from the movie “Fight Club” based on the beautiful novel by Chuck Palahniuk of the same name.
His name is Dave. He started off as a clerk running orders in San Francisco to a man in the pit of the CBOE.
He asked for this interview around 3 weeks ago, but I had to postpone a few times..he had to postpone once…it doesn’t matter. The point is this…he asked me for an interview way before I netted….an absurd amount I was not expecting to earn on Tilray.
I’ll be honest, whilst he is arguably one of the best people I’ve been interviewed by…I personally was a bit hyped off the trade.
Chalk it up to insecurity. Or, at least, prior insecurities. When I was newer to the game of sharing trades on platforms like StockTwits or my trading room, I used to get very heated that these folks said I was a fake trader…a paper trader
Over the years I’ve learned this. The net profit was $1.4m. I don’t like sharing numbers like that, but the amount of “oh that’s fake” messages I received I still have a bit of the something to prove mentality. I grew up pretty damned poor.
But after all of those ‘you’re a faker posts’ I didn’t respond to, I said what I really should have started saying in the beginning. Dave, as a former pit trader at the CBOE, and someone who understands markets
What I ended up finally responding to, and I won’t name call or share the tweet/response…that’s not me.
If it makes you happy to think I faked a 1.4mm net gain overnight by throwing in 1.5m into the market over split orders…..then be happy. Believe that. I know my portfolio. I know my assets. I know my trades. And I could Photoshop anything. But why the hell bother with a jealous pissant?
Sorry for the rant, just wanted to let you know where I was coming from.
To quote Biggie….no. I’m a trader I’m not going to quote the intro from Juicy. I did grow up in South Side, Jamaica, Queens. So yeah. It’s a fake trade. 😉
